On the evening of March 6th, Wang Zhonglin, the Secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee, presided over a video conference of the Wuhan New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Command, proposing to carry out gratitude education for the people of Wuhan.

Anyone who has a little affection for the people of Wuhan will not say such things now.

The situation in Wuhan is visible to everyone. As of March 6th, there have been 49,871 confirmed cases and 2,349 deaths in Wuhan. Due to inadequate preparation in the early stage and the inability to cope with the explosive spread of the virus, many deaths have not been included in the statistics.

The day before yesterday, I heard a recording of Zhu Chouwen, the deputy dean of Fudan University Affiliated Hospital, who went to Wuhan to assist on February 7th. When he talked about the time when many infected people in Wuhan had no hospital to receive them and had to stay in the community, he cried and choked up.

The tragedy of a family being swallowed by the virus is not the only one in Wuhan. This is a tragedy of extermination.

2,349 lives, 2,349 deaths. Their bodies are not cold yet. Their families, friends, and classmates are still grieving. Their families, friends, and even themselves are still lying in the hospital waiting for rescue, unable to mourn. At this time, someone wants to strengthen gratitude education for them. This is an inhumane act.

In addition to ordinary people in Wuhan, there are also dozens of medical staff who have fallen on the front line. Wuhan Central Hospital has already had 3 doctors who died from infection; Tongji Hospital, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Wuchang Hospital, Wuhan Emergency Center, Hubei Changhang General Hospital, and more than ten other hospitals also have medical staff who have fallen on the front line. Their bodies are not cold either.

There are still thousands of critically ill patients struggling on the verge of death. In Fangcang Hospital and designated isolation points, tens of thousands of people cannot return home and still live in fear of the virus. Their families are also living in fear.

Wuhan is locked down, with millions of people trapped in the city, unable to go out, and even eating and drinking have become a problem. The voices of dissatisfaction with the shortage of daily necessities and high-priced vegetables are endless. On March 6th, in a community in Qingshan District of Wuhan, a citizen shouted "fake, fake, formalism" to the central guidance group. This kind of resentment, dissatisfaction, grievance, and unease quickly infected other people in Wuhan, and the video quickly spread on the internet.

This is public opinion, this is reality, people who are not blind or deaf can see and hear, and people who are not blind can also feel it.

The people of Wuhan have just experienced a major disaster, and the disaster is not over yet. They are still facing the threat of the virus and still living in fear and panic.

At this time, what the tens of millions of Wuhan people who are still threatened by the virus need most is help, comfort, and real material support, not education to be grateful. The tens of thousands of Wuhan people who are isolated in hospitals and hotels for observation need to recover their health as soon as possible. The thousands of critically ill patients need effective medical assistance, not education to be grateful. The hundreds of thousands of Wuhan people who are stranded outside and even discriminated against need to go home, not education to be grateful.

Put yourself in their shoes. At this time, the people of Wuhan really haven't recovered yet. They are still in fear and unease, praying for the disaster to end soon. What they need is strong guarantee and help, as well as an apology from the officials who are responsible for this disaster, not being asked to be grateful.

The implication of carrying out gratitude education is that the people of Wuhan are not grateful or not grateful enough. I don't know if this is a response to the "fake, fake" statement, or if it is considered that the people of Wuhan are ungrateful for expressing dissatisfaction with the shortage of daily necessities.

If Wang Zhonglin has this kind of thinking, I think he needs to receive some education: you are a servant of the people, your job is to serve the people, and now the people you serve have lost their homes and lives, the deceased are not cold yet, the living are still in tears, and the sick are still not recovered. It is completely reasonable for them to be dissatisfied. You should reflect and feel ashamed because of the inadequate work of you and your team, instead of accusing the people of Wuhan you serve of not understanding gratitude.

Do the people of Wuhan not understand gratitude? As a person from Wuhan, I cannot accept such baseless accusations from Wang Zhonglin.

The people of Wuhan are always grateful. They are grateful to the tens of thousands of medical teams from other provinces and cities who came to support Hubei, they are grateful to the countless kind-hearted people who donated money and supplies, they are grateful to the countless local medical staff who fought on the front line, they are grateful to the Wuhan police and sanitation workers who stayed at their posts after the city was locked down, they are grateful to the countless unknown volunteers and community workers. If they don't know gratitude, the articles praising the above-mentioned groups would not have millions of views.

In addition to giving praise, they are also doing what they can.

A vegetable farmer in Huangpi District has repeatedly delivered vegetables to the hotel where the Shanghai medical team supporting Wuhan is staying, without taking a penny; countless Wuhan citizens and volunteers know that the medical staff in Wuhan cannot eat well or even have no food to eat, so they silently send boxed meals and other daily necessities to Wuhan hospitals; many Wuhan people are trapped in the city but still donate money and supplies...

What is this if not gratitude?

Wang Zhonglin has been in Wuhan for almost a month since he was transferred from Jinan, Shandong to serve as the Secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee. From his cold and ruthless words, it can be seen that he currently has no feelings for the people of Wuhan. I believe that it will take a long time for the people of Wuhan to accept this Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee.
