[The following is the full text of the conversation]
Interface News: Where are you now, and how is your health?
Fu Xuejie: I am in my hometown, Zaoyang. My health is average. I have been feeling down since my husband passed away, and I had some bleeding during my pregnancy and stayed in the hospital for a while.
Interface News: There were rumors that you were also infected. Are you okay?
Fu Xuejie: I only had a fever. After my husband passed away, I didn't feel well the next day and had a fever, but it was not COVID-19.
Interface News: What about the other people in your family?
Fu Xuejie: When my younger brother had a CT scan, there were some problems with his lungs, but he didn't take a nucleic acid test at that time. On the afternoon of the day my husband passed away, the government personnel here took him for isolation and did a nucleic acid test. The test result turned out negative, so he was fine.
Interface News: Did you have any contact with Dr. Li Wenliang before his death?
Fu Xuejie: During the days he was hospitalized, we would video chat every day. I would speak, and he would listen. On the day he passed away, early in the morning around five o'clock (Li Wenliang passed away on the early morning of February 7, so this should be the day before, around five o'clock in the morning on February 6), he sent me a message saying "I'm fine," but later on, I couldn't reach him.
Interface News: How did you find out about his death?
Fu Xuejie: I also found out from the news. That day, I kept calling his colleagues, asking them to go and see him. They said he was still being treated, but I didn't know the specific situation. Later, their hospital issued an announcement.
Interface News: How did you and Dr. Li Wenliang meet? Did you have a good relationship as a couple?
Fu Xuejie: We met during our internship at the hospital. He was very good to me and always stood by my side. When his colleagues needed something, he would say, "I need to discuss it with my wife" (Fu Xuejie choked up).
Interface News: Did you go to Wuhan later? How was the funeral handled?
Fu Xuejie: No, we couldn't go. The roads here were also closed, and my mother-in-law couldn't come over. The ashes are still at the funeral home.
Interface News: How old are your two children now?
Fu Xuejie: The older child is in the middle class of kindergarten, almost five years old. The younger one is only five months old in my womb, with a due date in June.
Interface News: What are your plans for the future?
Fu Xuejie: Right now, I just want to safely give birth to the child. We are also waiting for the conclusion of the investigation by the central investigation team before making any decisions.
